Australia / New Zealand Outside Washington State

Bruny Island, Hobart, Tasmania

Since the Walls of Jerusalem were off due to smoke and heat, we headed to Hobart for a few days. Hobart wasn’t in our original schedule.

Since Hobart is known as a town for foodies, we went out for a nice seafood dinner. The rumors were true. Everything was delicious.

We took our full day in Hobart to go out to Bruny Island, home to the second oldest lighthouse in Australia.

On our way to the lighthouse, we did a hike out to Moorina Bay to walk through the rock tunnel.

Hiking to Moorine Bay

The views were beautiful …

But I am probably done hiking through sand for awhile.

Hiking along Moorine Beach

Where the beach ran into the sea cliff wall, we found the rock tunnel.

I found a rock formation to scramble up.

The wind was blowing so hard, we were getting mini-facials. We took a few more photos through the rock tunnel and then headed back to the car.

Bruny Island is almost two islands. There is a very narrow neck connecting them.

At the very southern tip on the island, stands the second oldest lighthouse in Australia built in 1838.

We were all keen to take a tour and see the view from the top. The winds were unbelievable as we stepped outside the lighthouse trap door.

It is off to Port Arthur and the Three Caps Walk. I am very excited. I booked this trek over a year ago.
